New schedules

Well Dad went back to work last Monday. That means Rosaleen started daycare. So far it stinks. I hate it, Rosaleen mostly hates it and dad just kind of hates it. The good news is that daddy is only working part-time, so he picks Rosa up at 12:30 and mommy doesn’t drop Rosaleen off until 8:30 or 9, so she is not there terribly long. In other news, I start back to work full time this Wednesday. Ugh, I can’t imagine what it will be like not to see Rosaleen all day long. Mommy is sad. Prunes Rosa is eating like crazy and growing like a maniac. The last few days she seems to eat constantly. I haven’t been able to keep up with her, even though we are also feeing her baby food. She is getting very strong and very wiggly and fast. If she sees something she wants she can reach out and snatch it pretty quickly. Also, when she is in the mood she can roll anywhere she wants. When she is rolling you have to keep your eye on her… or she’ll just roll away. It is hard to get a picutre...

Daddy Boot Camp

Image
Well for the past five weeks I have been out of my element. I have been getting yelled at and told what to do and that no matter what I did it was not right. I have had to make sure that everything I did was to the exact specifications as outlined by her. I have ran back and forth, been spit on, crawled on my knees, gotten dirty, hardly had any sleep. “Feed me!” “Get my clothes ready!” “Feed me!” “Change me!” “Nap time!” “Feed me, change me!” That was just the first day! Boot camp? Well close enough…for the past five weeks I have been taking care of Rosaleen, yep daddy day care! It has been one heck of an experience! The first day was crazy for sure. I was exhausted by the time Sunny came home at 2:30, yes 2:30 that left Rosaleen and I home alone for a whopping 5.5 hours. Not even a full day! Sunny said I looked like I had been up all night, had a hangover, and been beat up. My hair was a mess and I had spit up all over my shirt. I hadn’t brushed my teeth. Rosaleen looked exhausted...

6-months old!

Image
I LOVE books Rosaleen turned six months old this last week. This of course means she had her six-month check up. Again, she is doing great. She is 18 pounds, 14 oz (94th percentile) and 27 inches (91st percentile). While the doctor was checking her out, she said she thinks that Rosa’s bottom front teeth are getting ready to come in. Reading up on what to do next! Rosaleen is really good at sitting up now, and she barely ever falls over. She is exploring everything she can get her hands on—and she loves tags. Ben calls her the inspector because she is always examining things. This week we started watching the baby sign video, so we’ll will see how long it takes for her (and us) to learn some signing. Don't forget your hat when you go out This is Rosaleen’s last week at home with daddy. He will go back to work (part-time) starting Aug. 23rd. In preparation for her to start daycare, daddy and I are going to take Rosaleen to daycare for 30 minutes or s...

Lazy Summer (not)

Image
Sitting up in the back yard!  It has been a busy week here. Rosa has not been sleeping great.  Last night she fell asleep next to daddy with a hand full of his hair.  The car has been in the shop all week. They still can't seem to fix it right.  Rosaleen is almost a pro at rolling all over the place. Once you put her down, she doesn’t stay put for long. Also, her attention span is starting to get a little longer, so she can occupy herself for longer periods of time—maybe 20 minutes or so on a good day.  If she drops something she will look down looking for it and can follow things around now.  Her favorite things to watch are Fred (the cat) and Casha (the dog).  She squeels in delight when she sees Casha. We are still giving Rosa rice cereal.  Yesterday Ben gave her sweet peas. She loved them.  There is a video of her eating at the bottom. MMMMMMMMM!  Ben and Rosa are still staying home ...

Hello

Image
Hello! We’ve been so busy since the last blog. Grandma Jill came to visit Rosaleen for week (they had a great time). Mommy had to start back to work part-time, so Grandma Jill took care of Rosaleen while mommy went to work. This was very sad for mommy, but Rosa didn’t seem to mind. After Grandma Jill left, daddy started family leave from his job for a month to take care of Rosaleen while mommy is at work. He and Rosa are having a great time together, but they were happy to have Grandma Janet and Grandpa Bob here for a few days to help. Yesterday Grandpa Pat and Gerrie came to visit too! Rosaleen got to pull on Grandpa Pat’s mustache, which I am sure she loved, because she LOVES to pull hair. Not only did Rosa have lots of visitors, but also on July 20th she started to be able to sit by herself and then on Saturday she had some rice cereal, which she loved! It has been so busy I haven’t had time to blog (I blame it on work). Rosa is doing gr...

Visiting part II

Image
Uncle Forrest talking to Rosaleen As I alluded to in my last post, we went to San Diego to visit Uncle Forrest, Aunt Jen, cousin Cater and brand new cousin Camdyn. We had a great trip! Luckily we timed the car rides well and Rosaleen slept a lot during our drive times. Baby cousin Camdyn This was the McLernon family’s first time meeting little cousin Camdyn who was just over a month old, and Rosaleen’s first time meeting Uncle and Auntie and cousin Carter (almost two years old). With three little ones we kept busy, even with four adults. Cousins Carter & Rosaleen Carter was so sweet to the little girls. He was gentle and very helpful. He sweetly gave Rosaleen her pacifier many times. He is going to be such a good big brother (and cousin). Although Carter has a lot of energy he knew to slow down and be careful around the babies. We did a little photo shoot of the girls when Carter was at school. It was hard to coordinate, but the girls’ beauty shined through. While ...

Fourth of July

Image
I have so much to blog about, I am going to make it into two posts. We are back from our trip and we had a great time. Thank you to Aunt Heather and Uncle Nick and to Aunt Jen and Uncle Forrest for letting us stay with you. Last Saturday we loaded up and drove to Aunt Heather and Uncle Nick’s house for the Forth of July. We had a great time and Rosaleen loves to hang out with cousin Ethan and cousin Gavin. We did get to see some nice fireworks, but Rosaleen did sleep through a lot of it. July fifth was Gavin’s second birthday, so of course we stayed for the party. Grandpa McLernon was there too, so Rosaleen got to hang out with him too. Gavin got a little motorized tractor (among other things) for his birthday, so now he can keep with his brother. Also while we were visiting, cousin Ethan’s butterflies hatched from their cocoons. It was quite a special surprise. Rosaleen and Cousin Gavin on 4th of July Playing around on the 4th WHAT DID YOU SAY TO ME? E...
