4th of July post

:)  We did have a great time in Arizona.  We did a lot....water park, fireworks, lunch with friends, dinner with friends, hanging out at grandma and grandpa's house........ The trip was several weeks ago now, and at the time Finn was only a month and a half.  Enjoy the pictures! The last two pictures were taken last week, when Finn was 9 weeks or a little less.   He is such an easy baby.  He goes to sleep easily and takes long naps.  At night when he wakes he goes right back to sleep, no fuss at all. He sometimes wakes only once, but sometimes three times.  Rosaleen usually wakes up twice too :) so nights are still busy. Finn likes to make a little cooey sound and he really likes it if you make that sound at him.  I have tried to get it on video, but if he sees the camera it is just too distracting.   He loves to have little one-on-one conversations where he coos.    He is so...

Rosa Rosa Finnley Finnley

For the 4th of July Finnley made his very first trip to Arizona.  He knew exactly what to expect by the time he got there though, because his big sister did not stop talking the entire way over (6 hours driving plus two hours of pit stops).   Finn slept through some of his sisters detail, but she did not even rest her eyes. We had a great time and Rosaleen got to go, go, go, which is what she loves to do.  We have some pictures on the camera that haven't been put on the computer yet, but I do have a few pics from my cell phone I can put up on the blog. We had a great 4th of July thanks to Grandma Jill and Grandpa Glenn.  Rosaleen got her nails done, had a front seat view of the fireworks, she got to paint the sidewalk (and some paper too), eat all kinds of junk, DJ'ed pooping breaks (courtesy of grandma) and don't forget the water park!!!  She also got some fun and fabulous time with Jaxon, Myla, Molly and KaylaAnn (as well as Tigger, Princess...

Little Chicks Dance Recital

Rosaleen had her second dance recital.  She had a costume this time and the class performed a song about little chicks (as in chickens).  She had a GREAT time and she had no problem waiting with her class in the green room for her dance, while mom and dad and brother were in the audience. She also got to wear make-up for her show, which of course was a hit with her.  Rosaleen really did a great job, especially considering all the other girls except Rosa also performed at the Del Mar Fair just a week before this show.  Rosaleen and Ben had tickets to Sesame Street Live that day so Rosa couldn't be in the show at the fair. We had a great time watching the other dancers perform also, but we did leave at the intermission.  The auditorium was not air conditioned and San Diego was having a big heat wave that weekend.  It must have been 90 or more in the auditorium. Whew!

Keeping so busy

There is so much to say, I don't think I can get it all in.  First Grandma and Grandpa Mott came and stayed for a week with buttons! We had a great time, and as part of the fun Uncle Doug, Aunt Annie, cousin Erica and 2nd cousin Lucas all came over--and brought dinner! Yummy!  Next, we had a visit from Grandpa Pat, Aunt Heather and cousins Ethan and Gavin, then Krista Kay and her family were in town along with Aunt Chris and Aunt Kathy, and Rosaleen had a ballet performance!  And somewhere in there I totally threw my back out A LOT. Last time I blogged Grandma Janet and Grandpa Bob had just left. I don't have the pics of them handy, but here are a few snaps of the evening that Doug, Annie, Erica and Lucas were here. Aunt Annie, the child whisperer Cousins (2nd) yummy dinner thanks to Doug and Grandma Lucas and Rosaleen Looking at old pictures Then we had a visit from Aunt Heather and Ethan and Gavin and Grandpa Pat! We had lots of ...

Happy Father's Day

Finn's 1st Father's Day in the tunnel at the park can you find the baby? I got a new baby carrier.  I do like the Moby, but it is too hot and it takes a lot of organization to put on. You can't see Finn in this pic, but if I take the hood off the carrier, you can see he really is in there. Finn is still quite the sleeper.  Books say that babies his age sleep about 18 hours a day, but I think he might sleep more than that.    He does usually get lively around 8 pm and then stay up until almost 10.  Then he is cranky and needs to be walked to sleep, but afterwards he is usually out until 2:30 or 3 am. Little Finn outgrew his NB clothes and is already wearing size 1 diapers.  He doesn't got back to the doc until July 15, but I will try to weight him this week.  He was almost 10 pounds on June 4, so I guess he is more than 11 pounds already. His little legs are getting a little chunkier. They still look l...

More Finn

Here we are about 13 days into Finn's life and things are pretty normal.  Finn is an easy baby, at least compared to the other newborn we had :)  He sleeps for long periods of time and he eats well too.  He definitely does not eat like his sister did, but he still eats well.   Yesterday his belly button stump finally fell off and he was able to get a real bath. Then again, he got another bath this morning because he big time spit up/throw up last night and he needed to be cleaned up.  As with newborns, he does not love the bath. Grandma Jill and Grandpa Glenn left on May 31st, and Grandma Janet and Grandpa Bob arrived June 1.  Rosaleen is having a blast with her grandparents and generally running wild (well a little bit).  She is a great sister and is still a big help to mommy.  I am so proud of her. Rosa loves to hold Finn in the morning Overall, I am a little surprised how much Finn is not like his sister.  He doesn't lo...
