the shot from hell
Yesterday Finnley went in for a 14 month check up (really it was an appointment for his Dtap since we only did MMR at his 12 mo). He is a big dude. 26 pounds and 32 inches. WHAT--32 inches, that is about how tall Rosaleen was at 18 months. She we did the weight, length, vaccine and then left. We took Finnley to school and it just so happened to be the day we were taking Rosaleen to the water park. More on the water park below. Pick up Finn at the end of the day, he is in a good mood, but I notice injection site is red. Ok, no biggie. Wake up today, the injection site is hot and swollen. We give him some Advil and send his to school. I pick him up and find this.......
Honestly, you can't tell how huge his arm is in the picture. His whole shoulder is the size of a baseball and is swollen to his neck and down to his elbow. So, off to the doctor. Now we are icing it, putting on steroid crème, uping the Advil and we are suppose to start antibiotics, which we are holding off on for a few hours. The doctor didn't really think his arm was infected, but was trying to be precautionary. If the ice and crème don't start to bring it down by midnight, we'll wake him to start the meds, but they cause diarreah, he has to take it 3x per day for 10 days and it causes all kinds of problems (which we have enough of).
Daddy at breakfast before the water park, which was our summer vacation that Finn didn't get to go on. We did have a great time and Rosaleen was really flexing her independence. It turns out she likes having Finn around to split the attention with.
Finnley however DID get to go to SeaWorld the day before. His first trip and we had a great time and stayed until 8 pm!!!!!!
Swim party fun with Claire
Super fireworks, which Finnley was having none of, so I sat in Grandpa Pat's truck with him the whole time. Finn slept and nursed the who time. He just was not into watching fire works, that is for sure. We did have a great time at the parade and the town BBQ and at the creek. Whoooo hoo, nothing feels better than a cold creek in summer. The kids were loving the creek.
