1st check up

So last night little Rosaleen was a little lethargic and appeared to not want to eat. We took her temperature and it was slightly low. After a call to the advice line, the pediatrician suggested we go to the emergency room because everything else was closed on Sunday night. He had to say that, better to be conservative than say not to go, right? So we took her to the ER in Sacramento. Luckily they admitted us right away. The nurse was a bit cookie and daddy wasn’t happy. The nurse got us in a room and once we got situated, she came back in and said we were in the wrong room…ok…fine. So after a small tour of the ER, we got to another room. We got situated…then she came in and said we were in the wrong room, again! Daddy was NOT HAPPY! She is three days old; lets get things together and get out of here. Anyway…after an assessment, she was fine. Temperature was higher, pulse was great, and oxygen level was great. Let’s go home Rosaleen!


Today Rosaleen had her first checkup. She is doing just fine. She has slight jaundice, but not bad enough to need an intervention. She loves to eat and eat and sleep. Rosaleen eats about every two hours. Sunny is the best mommy (and wife) ever and is working so hard. She looks so content, except when she is nudie and cold. She has some lungs on her. Daddy loves watching her eat and fall asleep in his arms or on his chest. She also had her first bath at home today and I gave her a manicure today…her fingers are so little.

Casha (the family dog) is doing great with Rosaleen. She knows Rosaleen is our baby and is interested but giving us space. She is a smart dog. The cat on the other hand runs when Rosaleen cries. Fred (yes, Fred a female cat) has an attitude anyway sometimes.

Rosaleen LOVES her clothes and furniture and her room. Thank you all again for the support and baby items. Aunt Heather, Rosaleen loves her room. It is a bit overwhelming to think that pretty much all her stuff was given to her from you all.


I still can’t believe that God blessed us so much with Rosaleen and continues to bless us. I am posting more pictures of the most perfect baby ever, enjoy!

    GREAT update! The jaundace thing is normal. Glad she checked out PERFECT! You might want to try closing vents & maybe doing a space heater when giving her a bath in bathroom so she stays a little warmer. May keep her from crying too much during bath.

    I hate those ER trips, but it's always better to be safe than sorry! Glad everything was good. You're right, Ben, she is perfect! And she looks just like Sunny! Beautiful in every way!!! I know you are both enjoying her thoroughly.

    Hi Sweet Heart, this is Nanie and I miss you so much. Little Sweet Pea is such a sweetie pie. She is a big eater and you know what goes in must come out! There's just something so very special about new borns.

Hi all, it's Ben.  I told Sunny I would never blog…so... Here are a few pictures of MY DAUGHTER! She is so perfect! I cannot believe she is here and I can hold her. 12 week ultrasound picture

Attached is the 12 week ultrasound picture that I mentioned in the previous post. You can see above the head is a hand and if you zoom in you can even see fingers. To the other side, up above the baby you see a little thing. That is a foot. In the ultrasound the baby was kicking her legs and moving-- put when the picture was taken, the leg was out of sight, so you just see the foot up top. But I promise- that is a little footsie. SO CUTE! In other news, my very sweet mother sent me a set of new maternity clothes today—AND I really need them. I had to wear a suit to work today for a meeting- and it was terrible. I had rubber bands and safety pins holding up my pants but it still wasn’t working. By the time the end of the day came I was so stressed and uncomfortable I couldn’t take it. What a perfectly timed surprise to find new clothes on my door step. Thanks Mom.

Lazy Summer (not)

Sitting up in the back yard!  It has been a busy week here. Rosa has not been sleeping great.  Last night she fell asleep next to daddy with a hand full of his hair.  The car has been in the shop all week. They still can't seem to fix it right.  Rosaleen is almost a pro at rolling all over the place. Once you put her down, she doesn’t stay put for long. Also, her attention span is starting to get a little longer, so she can occupy herself for longer periods of time—maybe 20 minutes or so on a good day.  If she drops something she will look down looking for it and can follow things around now.  Her favorite things to watch are Fred (the cat) and Casha (the dog).  She squeels in delight when she sees Casha. We are still giving Rosa rice cereal.  Yesterday Ben gave her sweet peas. She loved them.  There is a video of her eating at the bottom. MMMMMMMMM!  Ben and Rosa are still staying home ...
