Introducing Finnley Benjamin McLernon (yes I spelled it wrong the first time I posted)

Image
Finnley Benjamin McLernon, May 19, 2013, 11:43 PM Aunt Heather, Rosa and Finn Baby Finn is here!!! We are so happy to have him.  He was born May19, 2013 at 11:43 at Kaiser Zion Hospital.  He was about 20.5 inches (one nurse said 21) and 7 pounds, 15 oz.  Ben and I check into the hospital at about 4 pm.  When I was triaged I was only 1 cm and my contractions varied from 4 minutes apart to 7 minutes apart.  The midwife at first was going to send me home (which is only a few minutes away), BUT Finnley had a couple heart rate dips while we were there, and she was concerned his placenta might not be holding up.  So, we were admitted--lucky us, because by the time I was admitted and rechecked I was 3.5 cm.  Sadly my labor room was freezing and at 5 cm I was chattering and really hurting with back labor. At this point I got an epidural which I was later sorry for and thankful for at the same time.   The big story, besides Finnley Benja...

Today is the day .....I think..... (38 week 6 days)

Well, I think we are having a baby today.  I mean, I really thought we were because at about 3 or 3:30  am I started having contractions every 20 minutes, then 15.  At about 6 or 6:30 I texted my mom to come to Cali because today is the day (the contractions were not super strong, but they were strong enough and they lasted about 45-50 seconds).  At 7 am the contractions were about 14 minutes apart, and I decided to get out of bed.  And so I did. I was up for about 40 minutes and not a single contraction.  I laid down again and I had a contraction.  I have been up for about 20 minutes since then, and not a single contraction. Hmmm.  I still think today is the day because I am having other signs of labor (think mucus plug), but it seems if I am up, the contractions go away.  This kinda happened with Rosaleen too.  With Rosa, my water broke and it took about 6 hours for contractions to start.   As long as I laid down, they...

Its a BOY--but he hasn't arrived yet

37.5 weeks Last blog I left you in suspense………..but as anyone reading this probably already knows, we are having a BOY!!!!! Yea! We are so excited to add a little brother to the family.   Things are really going to change around here.   I mean REALLY change.   Blue blankets, toy trucks, wow. Truly, we could not be happier to be having a baby boy.   Ben has started painting the room, surfing type theme, and we have quite a collection of boy clothes started.   Grandma Janet came to the rescue by making several new blankets for baby brother. Now if we could just get a name.   Hmmmm. Finnian, Rian, Benjamin, Adam……….. It is hard. Video totally unrelated to post, but super duper cute-- Rosaleen and Cousin Camdyn being princesses. I am 37 and half weeks and feeling great.   I still am having regular Braxton hicks, which sometimes can be annoying, but nothing serious.   I had a midwife appointment yesterday.   She didn’t measure my bell...

Whew-- is week 34 taking a long time?

Image
Well, here we are week 34---still.  I am feeling very much 39 weeks pregnant rather than 34 (I have never actually been 39 weeks pregnant, as Rosa came at 38.5 weeks).  I am still sleeping fine (propped up due to heart burn), and I can get around fairly well as long as 1) I don't have to walk up hill or 2) get very far from the restroom.  However, I am having a lot of braxton hick (these started weeks ago) and this baby is a pusher.  He loves to just push on me.  It is tiresome and it does wear me out by the end of the day. Lots of things to update the Blog about: 1) I have some pictures to post from a visit by some friends from Cave Creek--that now live in Portland 2) We went to Az and Grammy through us a great, great baby shower 3) We have a baby gender update 1) In March a childhood friend of mine, Aurelia came over (with dinner) for a visit.  We had a great time catching up, but of course we could have used about 7 more hours...

33.5 weeks (April 11, 2013) Yep--- I gave up the work shoes.......... tennis shoes for me! Compared to with Rosaleen at 33 weeks: Well lets see, With Rosaleen I have way better hair and wore more make-up--- and was looking generally more rested and younger.   Well that is nice.  Maybe I was slightly bigger with Rosa at this point. Hmm.  Maybe I should grow my hair out.

33 weeks

We've made it to 33 weeks.  Its seems like the baby should be here by now, but we've got some time to go.  Rosaleen was born at 38.5 weeks, so if this little one comes about then I have 5 more weeks to go (plus a couple days). That would put the baby coming right around May 16th!!!! Now wouldn't that be perfect! Watching the animal show Rosaleen was a little early and 7 lbs, 14 oz., with blond peach fuzz on top and reddish brown hair in the back.   I hope this baby comes at week 38, and I am guessing it will be just about the size Rosaleen was.  It is hard to say right now, but I do remember when I was about 36 or 37 weeks pregnant with Rosa, I knew she was getting big.  This baby is not super big yet, but we'll see what I think in 5 to 7 weeks. Before Rosa was born we did a pol predicting what week she would come.  We got several votes, But ZERO votes were for week 38 (Ben and I voted week 39). I will put up another poll-- but I hope I am...

Easter, 2013

Image
This Easter, we celebrated with Aunt Heather and family like we have the last few years.  But this time we got to do it at Aunt Heather's new vacation house in the woods!  What a fun treat!  The weather was nice and brisk, but not cold and the setting was beautiful-- AND there is NO cell service!!!!! Yea. Guess who found bubbles in her Easter basket? Guess who found silly string in their Easter basket? Pond in the yard As always, Rosaleen had a wonderful time with everyone, especially her cousin's Ethan and Gavin.  They are both always so good to her and she loves to follow them and watch them.  Grandpa Pat was at the house too for a bit.  Rosaleen was very happy to see him, and recognized his truck when we pulled in (about 4 hours later than we expected). Uncle Ben and Ethan hanging out No Uncles were hurt during this photo shoot Rosaleen's first video gaming experience Aunt Heather's new house is a hi...
