Is this week 307 or week 37?

This week has been very busy for little Rosaleen. Besides continuing to gain weight and develop her immune system she (and I) went to the OB this week. Once again, all looks good. Rosa’s head is down and the CNM told her to stay there. She and I will go back on February 9th. Rosa also received MANY gift this week. She got several flannel blankets made by her Grandma Janet, she received swaddling blankets from my friend Lindsey in Arizona, and she got a warm fuzzy blanket and a few toys from Lindsey’s mom. Also—Lindsey informed me (and I told Rosa) that she and her husband will be having a little baby this summer!!!!!! Yea! Also this week, Rosaleen’s cousin Abby sent her a bunch of clothes that Abby can’t wear anymore (thank you), and Rosa’s Grandpa Allen offered to fly her (and Ben and I) out to Oklahoma so she can go visiting! Wow! We of course have to talk to Rosa’s pediatrician before we can go on a plane—but as soon as we pick one, we’ll be trying to figure out a trip. I think...

Holding Hands

I don’t know where this is supposed to go or who needs to hear it, but…on the way into work today I was having a conversation with Him. I had an overwhelming feeling of peace, I wept, and I was told to share my experience and let it flow out to who needs it the most and if I did that, those who needed to hear it, would. When I came home from the Army in about 1993 I went to visit my cousin in San Diego. This was long before I became a Christian. I had, had some Sunday school and even had a bible…. somewhere. I had always looked up to my cousin because he was the “cool kid,” very athletic, surfed, and all that “cool” stuff. Well, when I was visiting we were going to go snorkeling and spear fishing at La Jolla cove. Mind you I had never been in the ocean, except for some surf hoping and sand castle making as kid. I got ready and we started to go in. The day was slightly overcast and the water was like a blue gray color and you could not see below the surface. I was terrified and ch...

36 weeks, break in the rain & belly shot

Welcome to week 36, or month nine. It does appear that Rosaleen is pretty comfy up high, and I don’t think she is even thinking of moving down lower into the pelvis. Oh well. Nothing too new to report this week really. I am supposed to be doing kick counts two times per day and when counting the baby’s movements, I am suppose to make sure I count at least ten movements in two hours. Well, last night I only counted four…… then this morning I did everything I could to get the baby to move ( usually drinking cold water gets her going), however from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. I counted her move only five times. I told Ben, that if she didn’t move ten times during church, I was calling Kaiser to get checked. From 10 a.m. to about 11:30 a.m. Rosa only moved four or five times—but then from 11:30 to noon, she moved over fifty times!!!!!!! Whew! Since then she has had a fairly active day, which made both Ben and I very happy. I did eat a big cheeseburger and french fries yesterday, and I wonder if ...

35 weeks!

Wow— the baby is about 5.5 pounds (who knows really) and her immune system is developing right this very moment (probably). She definitely has her preferences, she much prefers the right side of the womb over the left, she definitely prefers cold water over room temperature water and she definitely prefers moderate to little noise over noisy places. Heather, Ben’s sister drove up here this weekend and decorated Rosaleen’s room. It looks great! She did a lot of work, made a lot of decorations and did a lot of shopping and hunting. We have attached several pictures of Rosaleen’s room. The crème colored dresses hanging on the wall were dresses that Ben and Heather’s grandmother wore when she was an infant. The rocker was a gift from Grandma Janet, the crib was used by Rosa’s cousins Ethan and Gavin, the poem was written by her cousin Sarah and decorative cross was gifts from her other cousins. There are many other things in Rosa’s room that were gifts to her from many people th...

34 weeks (and a couple days)

Little Rosaleen is around five pounds now! She is getting bigger and bigger and her mom is having a hard time moving around. All is generally going well. The heartburn even eased up a little. She has had the hiccups a few times in the last week, but they don’t seem to last too long ( I am sure she is glad). She and I are definitely at the stage that everyone stares at you everywhere you go. I am guilty of doing it to super pregnant women too. However, I know now that this can give pregnant women a complex. I ask Ben all the time, “Do I look funny?” He always says something very sweet in response to my question. However, every time he snapped a picture of me tonight, he would laugh and his eyes would bug out when he was looking at the resulting photo, so I am pretty sure I look at least a little funny. Ben and I took a newborn care class last week. We now know that if a baby’s temperature reaches 100.5 we need to call the doctor. We also learned how to swaddle the baby and how to b...
